Upcoming Event

Biometrics, ethics and panopticon state
Wednesday January 20th 2010

Professor Geoff Hunt presents an ethical exploration of the ramifications of the new technologies of personal identification such as face recognition, iris recognition, digital fingerprinting, web networks, transactions tracking, and surveillance and how these may be integrated into greatly enhancing the capacity of the State to track any individual's life, and globally. What will this mean for privacy and freedom? For example, did you know that some parents are protesting about the fingerprinting of schoolchildren without consent?

Attendance is free but RSVPs are required. Contact brittonm@smuc.ac.uk
